Mango Quartz Specimen from Cabiche, Boyacá Colombia

Mango Quartz is a rare variety of quartz, characterized by yellow-to-orange tips caused by inclusions of the mineral halloysite (or similar iron-stained minerals). It is exclusively found in the Cabiche Mining area of Quipama, Boyacá Department, Columbia, Often near Emerald deposits. These crystals, discovered in the 1980s but largely commercialized around 2017, typically feature long, slender, prismatic shapes.

Key Properties of Mango Quartz
Coloration: Clear to milky white quartz shafts ending in bright yellow, orange, or golden tips.
Inclusions: The yellow tips are caused by fibrous inclusions, generally identified as halloysite (a clay mineral), though some studies have suggested iron-rich minerals.
Crystal Habits: Frequently found as prismatic points, sometimes double-terminated or with "crowned", feathery, or phantom inclusions.
Location: Exclusively from the Cabiche mines near Quípama, Boyacá, Colombia.
Metaphysical Associations: Often used in crystal healing for its purported properties of promoting creativity, joy, and energy amplification, connecting with the solar plexus and crown chakras.
The mineral is highly prized by collectors due to its unique color and limited geographical origin.
